The Miracle of Miradry

For Excessive Sweating

The Safest, Most Effective Way to Rid Yourself of Excessive Underarm Sweat for Good

MiraDry is the only non-invasive, FDA-approved treatment for axillary hyperhidrosis or for excessive underarm sweat. It’s one of the most effective ways to free yourself of unwanted and uncontrollable underarm sweat or foul odor, and for most, it’s a one-and-done treatment. That’s right – unlike other currently available treatment, MiraDry offers permanent relief from any form of excessive underarm sweat in a non-invasive process, usually after just a single treatment.

MiraDry was developed by Miramar Labs and utilizes their exclusive MiraWave® Thermal Energy technology. MiraDry reduces underarm sweat and odor by heating and destroying overactive sweat glands. This reduces the number of active underarm sweat glands by 80-95% with the first treatment. The technology immediately and permanently allows you to feel more confident and free from embarrassing sweat stains and odor, antiperspirants, and other procedures that are more invasive and painful.

What should I expect from MiraDry?

There are no health risks outside of extremely mild side effects, and you’ll also experience some underarm hair loss, which many find a huge benefit.

Benefits of MiraDry

MiraDry has a host of benefits over other hyperhidrosis treatments, which makes it a fantastic choice if you’re suffering from excessive underarm sweat in Utah. This is state-of-the-art technology specifically developed to provide those that suffer from axillary hyperhidrosis and any other form of excess underarm sweat with a permanent, non-invasive solution with very little discomfort.

MiraDry is permanent. The benefits of MiraDry last a lifetime, usually after just one treatment. This means no daily antiperspirants, no regular regimen of Botox injections, no invasive plastic surgery or laser treatments, and no bothersome sweat and odor ever again! Most patients count this as the biggest benefit over other treatment options.

MiraDry is non-invasive. MiraDry is the only permanent, non-invasive treatment for axillary hyperhidrosis. Needles are used in the numbing process, but there are no incisions made, which helps get you right back into the swing of daily life. MiraDry is revolutionary in offering permanent results through a non-invasive procedure.

MiraDry works in a single treatment session. Studies have shown that the vast majority of those receiving this treatment experience significant sweat reduction that lasts. This study found that participants saw an average 82% sweat reduction. After 7 months, 93% reported good or excellent results from a single treatment. For many, this is a great reason to choose MiraDry over having Botox injections at least twice a year.

MiraDry causes less discomfort and harmful side effects than other treatments. Most find the MiraDry process relatively painless, with little need for recovery time. This means the majority of patients can go back to work immediately and can usually resume regular workouts in just a few days.

MiraDry won’t ruin your little black dress. For many who choose not to treat excessive underarm sweating with Botox, the best option until very recently has been antiperspirants. This often means chalky white on your clothes, and the possibility of getting caught in a stressful or embarrassing situation without antiperspirant, not to mention the reports of the harmful effects of aluminum in most antiperspirants. MiraDry lets you say goodbye to all that forever.

MiraDry Preparation

Approximately four days before the procedure, you should shave both underarms, and be sure that the area is free of cuts and rashes. On the day of your MiraDry procedure, you should wear a tank top with loose arm holes. A dark colored tank top or one that can be easily cleaned is recommended so as to avoid staining.

Purchase ice packs (or make your own by freezing water bottles) and have them ready and waiting for you at home to use post-procedure. If you like, consider bringing in music with headphones to wear during the procedure. There’s also no need to take time off work as it’s a short procedure with minimal healing time.

MiraDry Expectations

Results from miradry are instant, and you will experience some soreness and sensitivity after the procedure. However, this is minimal, and most people can stay comfortable using ice packs (every 20 minutes) and mild anti-inflammatories (which we prescribe to assist with swelling) for just a few days following treatment. Most people are able to return to work and daily activities on the same day, and vigorous activity and workouts can be resumed after a few days.

What Causes Sweating

Hyperhidrosis is excessive sweating that’s not related to exercise or heat.  Some individuals that experience this excessive sweating will have sweat soaking through their clothes and down their arm and off their hands.  Excessive sweating can be socially awkward and cause anxiety for those that experience it.

Generally people experiencing hyperhidrosis try prescription deodorants first.  If those options do not resolve the excessive sweating some doctors will recommend disconnecting nerves or removing sweat glands. With miraDry we offer our patients a non-invasive medical procedure for resolving excessive sweating without needing to repeat treatments and returning to a more comfortable way of existing.

There are two main categories of excessive sweating, and their causes differ.

Primary Focal Hyperhidrosis

This is the most common type of hyperhidrosis.  It happens when the nerves that control your sweat glands become too active.  They do this independent of having an increase of temperature around you or an increase in physical activity.  Studies have shown there is a possibility that primary focal hyperhidrosis may be hereditary as it can run in families.

Secondary Hyperhidrosis

Secondary hyperhidrosis by contrast is typically related to a medical condition.  It is less common and generally affects full body sweating.  Some conditions may contribute to secondary hyperhidrosis, such as: menopause, thyroid problems, diabetes, low blood sugar, infections, heart attack, specific types of cancer, and nervous system disorders.

Hyperhidrosis Symptoms

Just about everyone sweats when they push themselves or are exercising.  It’s also common to sweat when it’s hot, you’re under elevated stress, or are anxious.  People suffering from hyperhidrosis far exceed the sweating that people normally experience in these conditions.

For people experiencing hyperhidrosis there will be excessive sweating on the face, underarms, hands and feet.  It’s common for these affects to be felt on both sides of the body.
