Dysport

What is Dysport?

As a person ages, the ability to heal starts declining because the body cannot produce the same amount of tissue as when they were young.

This causes wrinkles to start appearing on the skin.

And one of the ways to treat these creases and folds is by getting  Dysport.

Dysport (Abobotulinumtoxin A) is a neurotoxin injection that temporarily decreases muscle activity in certain areas of the face where glabellar lines (wrinkles between the eyebrows and the forehead) appear.

Dysport is not only used to decrease glabellar lines on the face; it can also be used for other medical conditions like cervical dystonia or spasticity.

Dysport is a muscle relaxer similar to Botox. This neurotoxin effectively temporarily reduces wrinkles, resulting in smoother, younger looking skin. The first time a person receives a Dysport injection, the effect can last up to three to five months. This varies from person to person. To get more long-lasting and effective results, you will need to take more doses of this neurotoxin, use additional anti-aging products, and maintain a good skincare habit.

Dysport vs Botox

Botox (Botulinum Type A), also called ‘the miracle poison,’ is another neurotoxin injection that can be used to reduce or remove wrinkles from the face.

Dysport and Botox seem the same because they both contain neurotoxins and are used to clear creases and folds on the face.

Also, they are both FDA-approved and can be used by adults from the age of 18 – 65, although it is medically advised that they are used from age 35.

But are they completely the same?

No. And this is why.

And because Dysport is more diluted than Botox, the area of application differs from one another.

Dysport has smaller molecules than Botox does making it spread further, resulting in an even distribution.

Dysport can be applied on the larger surface of the skin like glabellar lines because it works fast and spreads quickly, while Botox can be applied on smaller areas of the face like the crow’s feet or lip line because of its high concentration.

Lastly, although they have visible differences, Dysport and Botox can be mixed together or used interchangeably.

Dysport Side Effects

Like every other injection containing neurotoxin, Dysport also causes side effects like headaches, irritation, swollen eyelids, nausea, etc.
